Chatral Rinpoche & Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche with grandson

Here is an early picture of Chatral Rinpoche visiting Nagi Gompa above the Kathmandu valley. Standing behind Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche is Kunsang Dechen - the mother of Chokyi Nyima and Chokling - and the young Phakchok Tulku sits on his lap. It's a bright, sunshiny day.

I just heard that Chatral Rinpoche is well.
And yes, he is one of the lineage holders of Khenpo Ngakchung's teachings, and one of the only living disciples.

Other life. Other people. Not here. Not now. It's not out there and it doesn't look like that. It's not orange and not Asian. Have two feet -- can stand, no problem. ;)

But thank you -- it is fun to read and no harm at all.

Very true. Very cute. Very highbrow. Very snobbish. Don't be too proud to kiss the ground where stood the forefathers of your now easily gained insights.

an authentic practitioner is easiliy recognised by his/her gratitude for the ones that came before them. the true meaning of this blog and the book it is based on may have gone over your head sir.

...and anyway, from my meditation pillow it all seems very here and now. The fact that I'm a white, hairy barbarian and other people are yellow, bald barbarians really doesn't have a lot to do with it.

Ps. Love the "Choose an identy" in the comment box. Very vajrayana...

Chatral Rinpoche is also featured
The Heart of the World: A Journey to Tibet's Lost Paradise by Ian Baker...I think Chatral Rinpoche is what Thomas Merton would have become ...or thereabouts
