The caption on this rare picture reads "jkclsitushengajamgyal" which supposedly means: Jamyang Khyentse Chokyi Lodro, Katok Situ, Khenpo Shenga, and Jamgyal. It was photographed from a wall in Kham by my friend Mateo, the mad traveler. The first two masters are mentioned throughout
Blazing Splendor.
man, brilliant shot that one!!! JKCL's imposing disposition is obvious even at the young age he appears to be in this photo. wonderful stuff.
ReplyDeletewhich lineage was khenpo Shenga belongs to? it seems like Lotsawaschool had translated some his articles...
ReplyDeleteI think that 'Situ' is actually Pema Wangchok Gyalpo (1886-1952), the 11th Tai Situ of Palpung. There is another photo of him at http://quietmountain.org/links/situ_rinpoche/situ-2.htm taken in Bhutan in 1936. His name was Pema Wangchok with an 'o' but many people mistakenly write 'Wangchuk' with a 'u.'
ReplyDeleteAn aspiration prayer penned by Khenpo Shenga can be found at http://lotsawahouse.org/id38.html
